**shows leaving from one mile south of the actual location and heading further east. This route, by this description, does not exist.Route description: T19 leaves the Coyote Valley Road (07S10) in the north end of Coyote Flat and heads northeast before joining with or turning into 3201SD.
Narrative Summary: This low-to-moderate-use route joins with the Coyote Valley Road in north Coyote Flat (Picture 725001). It heads east where it crosses the east of Coyote Creek (Picture 725002). This is a unstable 90 degree crossing widening in mud. It is 22 inches above the crossing, only 5-6 inches below and 9' at the crossing. West of the crossing is gullying and a 1/3 mile meadow crossing through mixed sagebrush and grasses.
Beyond the crossing route T19 ascends into the sagebrush where the central vegetation height reaches 1.5' (Picture 725003). At Ford Flat the route runs adjacent and close to the creek flowing in the meadow (Picture 725004). An unknown route leaves T19 and continues to follow the creek and meadow (Pictures 725007 and 725008) Beyond the flat is a plastic grazing bucket (Picture 725005). About 1/3 mile from its junction with 3201SD the route becomes a trail and drops into a riparian corridor (Picture 725006).
Vegetation & Wildlife: Sedges and grasses, lupine, currant, and sagebrush; mountain chickadee and cottontail.
Recommendation: This route crosses one creek and then runs adjacent to another before becoming a narrow trail just before another riparian corridor. The possibility of potential riparian damage on this route is substantial in three sections. The route is listed as a trail on the USGS quadrangle and should be managed as such. It does not allow motorized access to substantial points of interest and joining with 3201SD provides a decent trail all the way from the Owens Valley to Coyote Flat.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes no no Route description: Route leaves T19 just east of The Coyote Valley Road (07S10) in north Coyote Flat along the East Fork of Coyote Creek
Narrative Summary: Low use route on the east edge of the Coyote Flat meadow. Leaves T19 in meadow (Picture 725010) and heads through meadow (Picture 725011) before heading up to the east away from the meadow to a grazing facility (Picture 725013). Route fades to end beyond facility near granite arch (Pictures 725013 & 725014). Granite arch, though interesting, does not appear to be the purpose of the route. Vegetation reaches 2.5' in the center of the route and in parts a third track (ATV) is found. Numerous cattle along route and evidence of grazing.
Recommendation: This route should be removed from the inventory. It is low use and much of it is through a meadow.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes no no Route description: Route leaves T19 just east of The Coyote Valley Road (07S10) in north Coyote Flat and heads north for less than 1/4 mile.
Narrative Summary: Low use route head to the east fork of Coyote Creek from T19 (Pictures 725015 & 725016). Grazing present along route and otherwise no signs of recent use in this meadow.
Recommendation: This route should be removed from the inventory. It has no clear destination, is in a meadow, and is low use.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes Z1870 only yes N2196 & N2197 Z1870 only no Route description: These routes head up to a pond just west of Coyote Flat. Z1870 links the pond with the Coyote Valley Road (07S10); N2196 and N2197 wrap around the pond.
Narrative Summary: Moderate-high use area with motorbikes, ATVs and full-sized vehicles. Sage reaches 1' in the center in this lodge pole dominated area. Several campsites were found, most in the section to the south of the meadow/pond (Pictures 725019, 725021 & 725022) all high use. The primary camping area is to the south of the pond (Pictures 725019 & 725022). Around the west side of the lake, route N2197 is barely existent as it passes through the west side of the meadow (Picture 725020). Route Z1780 just ends away from the pond/meadow in an open flat (Picture 725018). Temporary barriers to travel are located on the south side of the pond north of the southern camping area (Picture 725022).
Recommendation: This appears to be a reasonably high use camping area and should be maintained as such. Routes heading to the north side of the lake (Z1870 north of its junction with N2196 and N2197 through the west side of the meadow) serve little purpose and these areas should be restored. A bathroom facility in this area could lessen impact of high-use camping. Barriers in the south end of the meadow should be replaced with permanent ones and accompanied with signs.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes no no Route description: Spur route heading SE off the Coyote Valley Road (07S10) in the headwaters of the east fork of Coyote Creek.
Narrative Summary: Low-use route with no sign of recent tracks through meadow and then sage and lupine flats. Large grazing facility and electric fence at north end near junction with 07S10 (Picture 725027). 90 degree creek crossing just south of grazing facility widening in soft substrate. 4' above and below crossing; 12' at crossing (Picture 725028). Cattle present amidst iris, yarrow and grasses . South of creek crossing route heads up into sagebrush (Picture 725029). Route crosses fence line (Picture 725030) before ending in field of lupine on hillside (Picture 725031).
Recommendation: Route possibly important to grazing, but low use indicates it is not used frequently. Route should be shown on inventory as access to facility (Picture 725027) and restored after crossing unless necessary for grazing.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes yes* no *Z1867 listed as 4WD
Route description: Routes head from Coyote Valley Road (07S10) to Funnel Lake. 08S31 parallels Z1867. 08S13 appears to be the primary route to the lake.
Narrative Summary: Moderate-high use routes allow access to Funnel Lake. One low-moderate use campsite was found on Z1867 just north of the junction with 08S13 (Picture 725032). 08S13 heads along the south side of Funnel Lake (Picture 725034). Along the south side of the lake there are 10+ fire rings spread out along the forest near the shore (Pictures 725035, 725036, and 725039). Pictures 725035 and 725036 show large established campsites, and 725039 is a string of 5-7 rings varying from low to high use along the shore. Picture 725038 shows a moderate-use site on the east shore. The lake shows some aquatic invertebrates (boat swimmers, beetle larvae, etc. and floating mats of organic material (Picture 725037).
Recommendation: These routes allow access to this point-of-interest and do not pose major problems. The use and site proliferation on the south shore of the lake show potential to be damaging. Sites should be consolidated and some fire rings broken down.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes yes* *Shown as route branching as heads south. East branch ends in private property; west fork ends before meeting Z1894 to south.
Route description: Route parallels the Coyote Valley Road (07S10) in south end of Coyote Flat. N2216 follows the western edge of the meadow.
Narrative Summary: Low use route with no recent tracks through sage and lupine (Pictures 725073, 725074, 725075 & 725076). Route closed at north end with sign (Picture 725072). Terrain varies from rocky to sandy-- meadow to alpine. In sections route is difficult to find while easier to follow in other areas. Route crosses fence line 1/3 mile north of south junction with Z1894 (Picture 725077). Grazing present along route. No sign closing south end.
Recommendation: Route should be removed from inventory. It allows no unique access to points of interest and is already signed as closed route on north end. Closure sign should be placed on south junction (Picture 725078).

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes yes no Route description: Spur routes heading southeast off the southern end of Sanger Meadows to Baker Creek.
Narrative Summary: Moderate-high use routes leaves Sanger Meadow at large junction (Picture 725047) and heads down to the southeast through open sagebrush. Motor bike and ATV tracks were found along both of these parallel routes. After leaving Z1892 (Picture 725048), Z1893 descends down a rocky slope to run adjacent to baker creek (Pictures 725049 & 725050). Along creek riparian vegetation such as iris and monkey flower is found adjacent to and in Z1893. Campsites are located off Z1893 along Baker creek. Picture 725053 shows a moderate-use, growing site with a fire ring approximately 10' from the creek. Picture 724054 shows a stable, moderate-use site approximately 20' from the creek with a stove as well as a fire ring. Picture 725055 shows an unstable, moderate-use campsite in the meadow associated with Baker Creek. The fire ring is approximately 20' from surface water and an broken closure sign as well as stack of closure signs lie just south of site (Pictures 725055, 725056 & 725057).
Recent ATV tracks were found off Z1893 heading perpendicular to the route directly into and across meadow and Baker Creek (Pictures 725051 & 725052). Tracks head south across creek into area with no routes on existing inventory.
Recommendation: These routes allow access to the southern edge of the Coyote Plateau-- there are no route further south until Big Pine Creek. Proliferation of routes is a high concern given the broken sign, documented proliferation of tracks, and the fact that the area south of here is currently roadless. All three campsites along Z1893 are very close to the creek and two appear to be unstable. Access to Baker Creek is possible via Z1895 to stable campsites with toilet facilities. Given these potential risks and the reasonable alternatives to these routes, this area should be restored to its natural condition and campsites should be removed.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes yes Route description: Spur off Z1895 heading south to Baker Creek
Narrative Summary: High-use route leaves Z1895 and heads south through sagebrush and lodge pole pine. Motor bike, ATV and full-sized vehicle tracks were found along this route. Two campsites were found along the route, one stable, moderate-use site near the junction (Picture 725059) and the other a growing site 200' from water at the terminus of the route (Picture 725062). Some route proliferation was found in a the lower meadow associated with Baker Creek (Picture 725061).
Recommendation: Route should continued to be maintained for motorized use. Signs and/or barriers should be placed in meadows to discourage proliferation.

(green)USGS 7.5 Quad Inyo Recreation Map None yes yes as trail yes as trail Route description: Narrow trail from just north of Big Pine Creek through High Meadows, along Baker Creek and into wilderness towards Baker Lake. (Only section along Baker Creek and just into wilderness surveyed).
Narrative Summary: Moderate-use narrow trail through lodge pole pine adjacent to meadow (Picture 725064). One campsite was found along the trail near the meadow (Picture 725063). In the west end of the meadow the route joins up with Z1895 for 1/4 mile from picture 725066 to 725067. ATV and dirt bike tracks follow the narrow trail through the creek west of picture with significant rutting and crushing of riparian vegetation (Picture 725068). Pedestrian and motorbike tracks were found along the route-- motor bike tracks through meadows and extend into wilderness though there is no sign indicating wilderness boundary (Pictures 725070 & 725071).
Recommendation: Route should continue to be maintained for non-mechanized use. Wilderness boundary should be clearly shown and signs at junctions with Z1895 should indicate that motorized traffic is prohibited on this route.
