The National Forest Foundation (NFF) engages America in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 192 million acre National Forest System and accepts and administers private gifts of funds and land for the benefit of the National Forests. Through a generous grant from NFF we've had a successful summer of Wilderness Stewardship Projects... adding new dimensions to Friends of the Inyo!

Friends of the Forest - Friends of the Forest helps NFF and the Forest Service communicate with citizens who are concerned about the health of our National Forests, who are interested in recreational opportunities, and who enjoy learning about the natural resources on the 192 million acres within the National Forest System. California Wild Heritage Campaign - a statewide coalition of nearly 200 business, religious groups and conservation organizations working to ensure permanent protection of California's remaining publicly-owned wilderness and wild rivers.

California Wilderness Coalition - a statewide organization dedicated to protecting California's wild places and native biodiversity.

The Mono Lake Committee - A wonderful resource for Eastern Sierra natural history, local events, and everything you ever wanted to know about the lake named Mono.

The Wilderness Society - founded in 1935, works to protect America's wilderness and to develop a nationwide network of wild lands through public education, scientific analysis and advocacy. Their goal is to ensure that future generations will enjoy the clean air and water, wildlife, beauty and opportunities for recreation and renewal that pristine forests, rivers, deserts and mountains provide.

The Eastern Sierra Audubon Society - leads fantastic field trips, host amazing natural history programs, and provides up to date information on bird sightings and birding hot spots. A great group of local expert birders and keen naturalist.

Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care - helping and healing wildlife in the Eastern Sierra.

Public Lands and Wilderness Education Resources

www.wilderness.net - As the official web site of the National Wilderness Preservation System, this site contains a searchable database for all designated Wilderness Areas in the Nation, information on what Wilderness is, a history of the Wilderness Idea and the Wilderness Act, and a timeline for the management of public lands in the United States.

Message from the Mountains - Message from the Mountains is an inspirational nature film exploring the virtues of wilderness. The DVD includes scenic video of backcountry Sierra Nevada mountains and interviews with backpackers on the John Muir trail.

Public Lands primer - quite a bit of interesting information on the history of American Public Lands

Wildebeat - the only (as far as we know) podcast focused on Wilderness and public land issues.
